I have the Robocon magazines bought from the local book store, in the Republic of China. Yesterday I picked up the 2007 issue. The store clerk said that particular issues is printed once a year. It contains not only reviews of microcontrollers but comprehensive listings of part sources.

It's not cheap. I believe it costs around $15 in Japan. Here, they tack on another $5 bringing it up to $20 per issue. But it does have over 175 pages, color, and slick hi resolution covers.

The advertising is captivating. I always find something new to "track down." While the magazine is all in Japanese language, and I don't read Japanese, I gather valuable humanoid robotic information by reading the technical spec information in the articles, and studying the photos and schematics.

For example, reading the magazine in this manner, I know the blue humanoid on the cover is Dynamizer, has Bluetooth BTX022 Bluestick, and is powered by 11.1 v at 2100mAh, and uses Kondo KRS-2350 HV ICS Red Version Servos. It's powered by Smd software and advertises Autodesk and Roland parts. Plus, the 3 full page photos show every detail in front/back/side views of this fantastic humanoid.

One thing I like to do is follow the URLs printed in the magazine. Then I run the better version translator. There's a posting about it at the Toddler Robot Group, message # 1395 if you want to read up on it.

The Robocon magazine is spectacular. In each issue, I always find a remarkable humanoids with designs I'm interested in, then follow up at the web sites and home pages. This process has provided many fruitful links to other humanoid robotic home pages.

Hi,
Does any one have robozac?

I was thinking about how we all are seeing the yen sign differently, and how I want to solve this, so I went on to google and found these:

Image

Does any body know if this is the yen sign? This in text is ¥ .

Image

In this one it is the second sign. Does any body know if this is the yen sign? In text it is 円

Thanks,

I've heard you can order an issue of RoboCon from the usa version of Amazon, and have it shipped outside the country. Is this what you want to do? There should be a UK version of Amazon. Try looking there instead of the one in Japan.

The first symbol in Japanese to English is XXYEN and the second symbol is CIRCLE.

You can see the same results here.

http://world.altavista.com/

Keep in mind, when you put characters together, they can have different meaning.
