That alright.

From my experiance from the first event, if your bot can walking in a straight line and doesn't fall over or worse still have it's feet fall off in the middle of the final  . Then you should be going home with a prize. It's more about having a good time and talking about stuff then a fall on competition. Last time people were more interested in talking and showing each other different mods and demonstration cool new features then the actual staged events.

Hope to see you there, we should be able to get 10+ bots there this time hopefully more then robogames in USA  .

Pev, I fully expect to "look really silly", who cares?

I have a RN-1 with a "stock" joint configuration. It has loads of mods and add-ons that do nothing to improve its walking ability. (including a compass). I still can't walk in a straight line.

For me, if I leave understanding more about biped robots, from you guys I'll be happy. This forum is great, but you can't beat a good discussion in person.

Hopefully I will get by bot put back together in time. The time will probably be rubbish but hopefully it will still walk.

Here's a photo of the finished "Robo-One" stairs, I promised to make and bring to ROBOtic:

Image

I wish I could boast that my RN is a stair climbing expert, but as you can see from protruding wires, its been in no fit state to practice with for a while, and won't be for a few weeks....some of my half-baked mods are malfunctioning :?

Wow, only 3 weeks to go.

We have got to start working out. Something of a Neutron Belly has developed over the summer
Image

Those knees didn't catch a tan either.

Still the wireless PS2 controller seems to be working out OK. I got tired of waiting for the Hitec one, so did my own.

I have set it up in Dual Shock mode, so the pressure on the PS2 controller buttons can change the speed of some moves.

The joysticks give 4 value inputs from 10 to 190, and the 16 buttons are coded for selecting moves. I didn't bother with the vibration yet. It is on the ETX/ERX, so the bluetooth is removed for now.

So I guess I am coming RC, not autonomous. :D

I should have look more closely I can now see that it's a madcat controller. I'm have to go down the local shop with my bot and try out all there wireless controller to see which one works the best.

Are you going to try the stairs.

It is working here with a MADCATZ 440, which I find the best feel and accuracy. It also works OK with a noname controller of e-bay, and a baby MADCATZ 330. I did not try a Logitech.

What are you using as the interface ? I use a 16F688 if you want the assembler code.

I've tried it both on a stamp and a Atmega168. Using the standard controller it works fine, but I've read a lot online about people but being able to get them working as it need some setup commands sent to it and no one know quit what that is. I have a PS2 console sat in the lab I will scope the lines but haven't quit gotten round to working in it again.

i was thinking about what events people were interested in having at the games or seeing other people doing. i thought it may be a good idea for people to post things they would like to compete in.

BillB is interested in having a 4 bottle race.
Novaone is interested in having the stairs.

i am interested in having a dash - straight line. (possibly backwards)
if there is anybody else going please post any ideas you have about what you would like to do or see.
