Here is another very quick video edit from this meet - this time with more complete footage of the stair climb/descent.

Enjoy

Thanks for the video Bill

What for the next event?

Bren, I was wondering what international events there are to attend?

HaHa - I love the way they go down the steps. Although I shudder at the hours I spent refining the stair descent gait of my Robot.

Next stage is to surf down the steps.

hey guys

I was talking to limor about this and he is also very excited with the idea.
the November competition may be a good date. how do you feel about that?

i think it would be cool to take some robobuilders also. today they announced a metal brackets set to make the robot sturdier for competition etc. so we can confidently throw some punches at other robots 8)
(more info here http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=16633#16633)

anyway if you are really into the idea, I think I can convince limor to offer a discount on the parts you need to prep you robots for the competition.
i think it would be really nice and funny.

Pedro :D

Bill ...they looked so rubbish going up. I thought you were joking about surfing down.........since I am the only proud owner of the steps....I suppose its down to me to program the surf for my RN ,,,no pressure:?
PS what is the world record for the steps.

It seems to me that some of the best action in these robot competitions is never caught on video. Eun Chan from team Robit (Korea) who drove Sakra Zero (the silver robot it the above stair climb video from RG08) practiced quite a bit on the area we had placed on the floor near our tables. This pit area was about 2 inches above the floor and Eun Chen repeatedly drove Sakra Zero from his spot by his table over to the pit arena where Sakra Zero would proceeded to step up onto the area and then he'd practice his moves for a time and then he'd stop, trot over to the edge, step down, and walk him back to his table. It was very impressive to see, seemless.

Wow, did you see how fast Sakra Zero got up those steps? 16 seconds, that's pretty awesome! Being right there as Robit practiced was too funny, since their robots are a bit bigger than most others (at least from what I've seen in the U.S. and Japan), the feet weren't fully on the stairs... certainly made for a tricky performance :)

now if only one could skip a step...

Hi Eun Chan!

Yes, I would like to see you again too - the KRF and RoboGames were both a lot of fun. Hopefully we can meet again soon :)

hi all

the november competition is coming up. If you are really feeling like participating please drop us (robosavvy) a line on the parts/kits you need for the competition and we would be very happy to offer you a discount.
in exchange we only ask your robot to proudly carry a robosavvy sticker :D

cheers
pedro.
