Fall Chibotica/iHobby 2008, Who's Going?

To make this very clear, humanoid events will be held only on Saturday

I will bring my Bioloid and lego sumo robots.

Notes:

Last year there was no parking in the "$11 Parking", so I went to
"Alternate Connected Park". After going on the elevators (or stairs)
in the parking garage to get to the "Habi-Trail", you will then end up
in the main building, you will not be able to enter the show from
there. Now (roughly) follow "Line 2" all the way to "Lobby and Badges".

If you signed up for Chibotica *before* September 17, once you are in the lobby approach the badge/ticket booth that is
labeled "Exhibitor". If you signed up *after* September 17, go to the normal booth (I'm not sure of it's name) and pay the $10 (I am not sure of the exact fee).


Remember - this is *not* a one story building. If I remember
correctly, after both paths from parking join, you must go down stairs.

Builder's Tip - Try to get in to iHobby Expo *before* 10:00 (public opening
time). This way you can avoid a *long* wait to get your badge(s) (a
few builders where talking about this last year), and get your robots ready.

I will be going on Saturday and will post more tips for the Sunday people.

If anyone is in the Chicago area and are interested in robotics, or RC stuff, you are very welcome to come! Feel free to come up and talk to us about your ideas, or ask us any questions you may have! This event is by no means only builders.

I'm signed up for Humanoid Stairs, Humanoid Kung-Fu, and Lego Sumo.

You can sign up by going to the Chibots website (http://www.chibots.org), register if you are not already, click on Create Content below your name, click on Robot Profile, after you have saved your robot profile click on Event Registration, choose the event and the robot and click Submit. You can either pay $10 per family per event (not per robot) or you can pay $20 to become a member for one year and get into Fall Chibotica and Spring Chibotica plus you will be able to vote and stuff. Either way you can pay with PayPal now to [vice president at chibots.org] (take out the spaces and change "at" to @), or pay at Chibotica (to Royce I think...). If you use PayPal, tell them what the money is for

Yup, I've had the Bioloid since January (2008).

I'm working on some secret custom "stuff" for him. Be ready for a fight , and stairs if you want!

I hope Matt B comes again, it sure would be fun... Matt how 'bout it?

I can control my Robonova using a PS2 remote control. The setup is very similar to what I-Bot is doing. I should be there unless something unforeseen happens.

I was just thinking about that also. It looks like Royce will also bring his humanoid. A few companies will also have a few humanoids (like last year how TR entered in Humanoid Demo).

Marc Lampcov, who was at iHobby 2007 will be there will his new company Robofactors (while he won't let me say what it is, I can say it will be a new humanoid robot ).

Our you ready for all three events? I still have work to do. I always seem too need more time. I am going to show up in Chicago on Friday. Is there anything going on Friday afternoon or evening?

I am almost ready for Kung-Fu, I'm going to get as far as I can with stairs although I am not too sure I will make it up and down (I will be happy if I get even the first 3 stairs)... For demo, I'm going to use any fun moves I have in my 'moves collection'.

I hope to have Humanoid Stairs completed by the time RoboGames comes.

Hmm, I can not think of anything that will be going on on Friday. You should Google if any non-robot related event will be going on. I heard something about a 'Year Of Science' going on in Chicago although I am not quite sure what this is.

It is looking to be a great time we will be having at iHobby!
