Thought I would get the ball rolling as It's still quite a while off. As these competitions seem to be getting tougher every year and I'm sure alot of people will be interested in the new free style competition.

Based on Sonic's concept I will be the making medals for this November's Humanoid Event..my one design criterion is that they will be useful to anyone interested in robots.....

What's the current attendance estimate here? We've made no (robot) progress in the six months but if there's going to be a good number of people there we may make the effort.

Partially inspired by Random Matt's Quad at the last Birmingham meet my Bioloid Humanoid robot is no more. I have cannibalised it for parts for an AX12 driven hexapod. It is a bit of a beast, and makes good use of the AX12 power and speed.

I have got the Inverse Kinematics sorted and have a few omni-directional gaits(well marches at least) just about working. Now I need to get my head around how what is the most elegant way to will walk the stairs with six legs.

Perhaps, I have been working with Humanoid Robots for too long - but I am finding the Hexapod much more fun (it does not always fall over) and rewarding (not perpetually compensating for momentum) than Humanoids.

Has Random Matt made any strides (pun intended) with his Quad Robot?

Bill, Sounds facinating, even if you don't get it stair climbing in time please bring it along. I will bring a notepad.....any chance of giving an IK lecture...continuing on from where Stuart left off?

Stuart, I wouldn't worry about not having progressed much since the last meeting its always nice to see what other people are upto, and chat about plans and possibilities......I haven't had much time either...infact my RN may not be operational as I currently have no controller.....(I will bring the steps in any case)

Hope to see Sonic, I-Bot and Robo1 again? Oh and Random Matt.

1) Servo firmware improved, meaning no whining and better curves.

2) It's now Playstation wireless controller controlled

We're desperately trying to get the prototypes for the production PSX controller ready for the end of November. Watch this space!

They are more than just static "Bling", since they are PIC 16F627 (PICAXE18) based boards that could be used for simple debugging or as a sensor inteface etc. (ie Tx/Rx over a few of the 4 spare inputs)

Here's an opportunity to get involved in an interesting robotics project involving your humanoid robot!

The producers of a the popular celebrity awards ceremony is looking for a humanoid robot to interact with celebrities backstage.

They want a humanoid with a camera and speaker. I suggested that the humanoid will be sitting inside a remote-controled car and move around the back-stage and once reaching the celebrity, it will get on its feet (maybe step off the car) and then do an interview.

This will take place in February but lots of preparations need to take place beforehand.

Having fun, hanging out with celebrities and getting paid for it

We're going to have the PS2 controlled quad and I'll put the humanoid in the box but it's got no more party tricks than before. The humanoid will stay put away unless people have specific questions.

The radio controlled quadruped is a bit of fun, though.
