Hi, i got my robobuilder on july 8 2008. since then i have had tons of problems first it took me 3 days to put it together. second it plain went beserk. later i took it apart and back together 5 times. then i let it alone for 6 months until today. jan 7 2009. i found out some of the wires were loose and fixed them. so far i solved every problem accept the home. i tried the zero capture but after 5,4,3,2,1, complete it said failed to set zero, try again. please help me i invested a lot of money into this and i am not going to give up.

Hi

I myself have worked with two robobuilder's (one black and one transparent) and they all worked fine, with the exception of the black where one servo had to be replaced under warranty (but has been fine since).

Could you please post further details on what's happening?

- Why did you use the "Set Zero" feature? What symptoms did the robot present?

- When you say it went beserk, what do you mean? this is a very vague description... what did happen?

Pedro.

i started litterally hitting itself and falling over and some joints vibrated like crazy. and about me doing the zero pose i tried the home button it all the joints went the there extremes i thought the zero pose would help because it reconfigures the home position but like i said before the program would not let me download the pose to the robot

i hope that explains it

hi theodore

I would like to help you but I couldn't really understand your explanation.

1) What do you mean by "hitting itself"? the robot was descoordinated and when it walked, the servos bumped into each other?

2) I don't understand what you mean by "i tried the home button it all the joints went the there extremes"

If the servos seem descoordinated then it is probably and assembly problem.
On the Robobuilder CD there are some videos about how to assemble the robot and about the errors that may occur during assembly and how to fix them.
The videos show the incorrect behaviours of the robot and explain how to fix them.

You may want to start there, before going into setting the home position.

Also, there is a tool on the robobuilder website (robobuilder.net) called "Robobuilder diagnostics tool".
You need to register on the site (robobuilder.net), then login and go to the download page. You will find that tool there.
Please download it and run and see if it reports any error.

Agreed with Pedro here, I had a customer call up explaining the exact same symptoms, swore up and down that he had assembled it perfectly.... he sent it to us to diagnose and there were servos installed backwards, in incorrect locations, and an entire lower leg installed backwards.

Not saying you've done this, just double and triple check your build. Every servo must be aligned and installed properly.

I've built 2 Robobuilder humanoids myself, and have heard from others building them as well. If everything is built properly you don't even have to align or set zero position, they just work.

Yeah, but that's what my customer said too :P

I'm just saying, based upon my own experience building these, and based upon others who I've talked to, if everything is assembled correctly, they just work. I didn't even have to align/adjust either of the humanoids I built.

Triple check the servo orientation and the servo shaft angle.

Also, you should have green and blue lights on the RCB pack. Orange or Purple are the wrong modes.

Mine worked first time ! No zero capture was required, it took about 1.5hr to build.

One thing to check is that you haven't built the mirror image - thats throws it off (i.e. swapping left and right). How about posting some photos of the assembled robot ?

non standard Huno with odd motion playbck

Hi Guys,

I had the nutty idea to add in a new degree of motion totalling with 18 servos instead of 16 for the Huno. The diagnostic tool verifies all is assembled and working. I configure the motion and it tests well in the MotionBuilder and saves too with success. However when I try to execute the saved motion with the remocon or otherwise the robot has a fit and moves till it locks up. What should I try?

Thanks

Mark

Hi Guys,

I should state more details about the software I was using, MotionBuilder 1.19 and firmware 2.15. Also Only the orange light is on PF2 when I attempt to use the motion via the remocon. Hope you can offer some guidance ... thanx

Hi Again,

I tried applying the firmware 2.15 that was supposed to be the version I had on the control box but to just try and see if it would have any effect, and it did, now when I presss the remocon instead of freaking out the effor led lights up, which seems to imply the motion file is not being saved properly altho the motion builder said it was. Is this motion builder 1.19 buggy? should I use the version supplied with the CD?
I will try that and report back, I'm usually weary of betas but I thought since I saw no negative feedback on the 1.19 I'd go to the latest.
BTW my Zero post never gets to save on the robot, I can read the zero posture from the controller and write, but everytime I try to create a zero pose and save it says write failure. Any1 experience this ?

Hi Raymond

Are you using the Robot in what platform?
HUNO, DOGY, DINO or CUSTOM?

I think that to be able to use 18DOF you need to set the platform to CUSTOM.

In the manual, it has instructions on how to switch between the various platforms.

I know forum member iBot has added 2 more DOF to his Robobuilder as well, modified the base motion files for Huno and got his robot walking successfully.

Pedro.
