Help ! A strange fault has occured on my robobuilder

As soon as I power it up the Power light flashes (green) - its connected to mains - and then immediately the error light turns red and PF2 goes orange. And thats it. If I turn on holding down PF2 - it will go into PC control mode - PF1 light blue, and PF2 light Orange. I have then connect the serial line and running the wcKprogrammer software. using this I can exercise evry servo (all 16) and they all work. So no problem with servo connection. I have disconnected all servos and the head and turned the unit on and get the same error condiiton. I have re-downloaded the v2.09 firmware and that flashed to the controlled ok - no problem. Turn the unit on - same problem , red error light and orange pf2 light. I think this means bad Huno config - but I can't see any problem - any thoughts ???? Bad control unit ? I do have the accelerometer and blue tooth fitted, but haven't had any problem so far with them.. All the test Ive done have been via the direct serial link. Ive also pressed the reset button/hole between PF1 and Pf2 - no change

what should I do ??????

this quite a basic question but let's go with the basics first LOL
Are you sure you have the platform set up correctly (to HUNO) ?

Also, the servos come with current overload protection so you may have already noticed that the robot stops applying any torque and turns on a blinking red light when some servo is "overcurrent".

Another possibility is if one of the servos can't be "contacted" by the RBC.

If it's the native firmware I would:
- check cabling and contacts
- make sure the platform is set correctly.
- make sure all servos are ok / not blocked

There is program called "Robobuilder diagnostic tool" that you can download from the robobuilder.net website which may be able to offer some more info to help you troubleshoot.

BTW does this also happen with your custom firmware?

It didn't make any difference where I had the servos plugged in or not. same lights came on. I ran the RBC diagnostic and all it seems to do is test the servos - all of which worked fine. Ive noticed it respond to the IR controller - the error starts flashing ??. Also if I press the charging sequence the green light starts flashing - so I'm leaving on charge and see if that makes any difference - although I can't see why as its plugged into the mains.

once charged I'll try the custom firmware once the charging completes, and see if i get any messages on the serial line. The flash download seems to work as Ive tried both 2.01 and 2.09 - both get same result.

Its works on my homebrew OS, so I've not been doing much further digging. It must be one of the tests in the start up in the firmware. Given that its putting on the orange light I'm assuming that its part of the code that checks if your huno config is correct. I need to try and understand how that bit of the firmware works. I assume its looking for certain values in the EEPROM which aren't present (or have got over written) when using the homebrew OS. So its abit annoying - would be great if robobuilder can shed any light.

This is now fixed - using the information published on the serial protocol I've reset the memory locations and reset the servo zero positions, and it now all works again. Ive also put a fix into the homebrew OS so that it protects the flash area of memory so this can't happen again.
