Hi all

Just to let you know that as part of our Christmas Specials, we have put both the 5710 and the 5720 on sale with 30% discount.

<strike>This means the 5710K is at 286.03+VAT (328.93 inc VAT) here
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/607</strike>

The 5710K Promotional deal has SOLD OUT. You can still get a Special Edition of the 5710K here http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/445 but it's not at a discount. The "Special" edition comes from the included extras.

the 5720T is still running at 365.05+VAT (419.81 inc. VAT) here
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info ... cts_id/608

We have only 2 of each available for this promotion (2x 5710K and 2x 5720T).

I am personally very fond of the transparent one. Robobuilder promotes them in a silly way with the "Christmas Tree" fever but if you overcome that, when using it, for some reason it feels more "human" and attractive/interactive.

Bear in mind that the kits are worth for the value of the servos alone (and
these servos come with the 4th Metal Gear already).

Add a Roboard on top of this and you have a great (and cheap) platform for experimenting and developing.

Regards
Pedro.

I just purchased a 5710K. I got one that was stocked over here in the states. Thought I got a good deal on it until I saw your special! The price was about the same with shipping here to the states. But I missed out on all of the extras you have bundled in!

Any chance you might put together an upgrade package special?
Like metal brackets, hip rotation, bluetooth module, acceleration sensor and metal gear upgrade!
I for one would certainly take advantage of it! =)

PLEASE!! LOL

Hi NullARC

I have to say it is unlikely that we make a bundle with all those accessories, at least for Christmas.

However I would like to recommend an upgrade to you which may be interesting as well.
The RBC YNN controller with Voice Output and the Acc Sensor pre soldered inside.
We are offering the Acceleration Sensor with this RBC.

It also comes with the headers for the BT module already pre soldered so it's just a matter of fitting it in.

With regards to the Head with the Distance sensor, I'm afraid we don't have any of those available for sale separately but you can get a PSD sensor yourself and solder it on the head.
[EDIT] Correction: we do have 2 heads with distance sensor in stock as of Dec 14th 2009. The price for each head is 9.50 GBP+VAT. They are not advertised in store but if you're interested please send me an email to pedro at robosavvy dot com
I have posted some pics of the head with distance sensor. They don't detail very well the solder points but it's doable with the information bellow.
(You can even choose to use a different A/D sensor there; not necessarily a PSD sensor).

My post with the pics of the RB Heads is here: http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3420

Richard Ibbotson's great work in documenting the connections on the RBC box is here: http://robosavvy.com/Builders/i-Bot/RBC.pdf
The details for the Head Cable/Sensor are on page 1, on the bottom left.

I thought I'd start small with the 5710K, which I think is an upgrade from my Mindstorms kit (at least in DOF). In future I might order another controller and the spider kit so I can have the option of making two simple robots or one better one, but I think the basic kit should be plenty to play with for now.

Hi Felix

I believe you have made a good choice.

The fact that Robobuilder includes many programming options is very good as it lets you explore many other "worlds" beyond LEGO.

Also the fact that the kit is built from the ground up as a humanoid offers a much more targeted environment and much better overall quality for your projects.

Regards
Pedro.
