i dont want to have to buy an android just to use the bluetooth.

I'm not a Apple expert - but I don't believe iOS support serial protocol (SPP) so the answer is no. See http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3647

If it does in the future you still need to build your own code, using objective C and then pay Apple an annual licence fee even to develop app to run only on your device. Android is much better for developers.
