- fixed IP LAN address for the RoBaord in my home network

Hi Marsman,

I see in that you were able to get at least the LAN side working. I, on the other hand have not been successful. I have followed the tutorial and installed the r6040.ko driver but whenever I look at 'dmesg' I see the following: "...r6040 no symbol version for module_layout..."

Do you have any recommendations on how to get the Ethernet port to work?

BTW, I am running Ubuntu 10.

Thanks in advance

To goto command line you need to edit

/etc/default/grub

remove "quiet splash" at end of line and replace with "text"

save file and run
sudo update-grub

this is for ubuntu 10.04 and above

Hi again All,

Well I guess that I am also the victim of a faulty 'SD Stick'. I had purchased a 32G SD card and for most things it looked like it was working fine. It did not report any errors when I copied file TO and FROM the stick, but it turns out that many of the files were indeed corrupted buy the stick.

I switched to an 8G stick and reinstall everything. I am now running Ubuntu 10.4 with 2.6.34.1 Vortex Linux Kernel. Also the r6040.ko Ethernet driver is now properly install and running.

So I guess that I will call this issue Closed. If I have additional question (as I progress in my Robot build) I will open a new Thread.

I want to thank everybody here for their help and I want to thank RoBoard as well for their Tech Support..

Thanks again...

Ubuntu still doesnt recognize my USB wifi adapter. I try to install it with windows driver through ndiswrapper but it still doesn't show up on iwconfig after i installed the driver. Here is my console output:

Code: Select all
~ ndiswrapper -l
neta5agu : driver installed
   device (07D1:3A0D) present
~ sudo ndiswrapper -m
module configuration already contains alias directive

~ sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
FATAL: Module ndiswrapper not found.
~ iwconfig
lo        no wireless extensions.

eth2      no wireless extensions.
