Does anyone know of a very small vga display that could be used with a mobile robot run by the roboard.

I'm talking like...PSP display size, maybe slightly larger.

I'm asking about VGA because I don't know how to work the LCD interface that is available on the roboard graphics card.

This isn't quite the solution you are asking for but 4D Systems offers many small display products. They've got some displays that should be about the size you are looking for, but generally their displays are smaller.

Most of their displays use a serial port to be controlled. Personally, I think this is a great solution for the Roboard with it's robust serial ports. I'm considering this solution to give my robot a "face" or other interactive output.

However, it sounds like you want a true display that would also show the bootup progress, no?

The "LCD" interface is just an LVDS. Many small displays use this (it's what laptops use internally, too) so you don't need VGA, and VGA conversion would actually be an additional step.
So, don't be afraid of the LVDS ;) Either LVDS or VGA will work for you.

Here's a company that has many types of small displays:

Here's how to mod a PSOne LCD to do what you want, it even has VGA!

You may want to search for whatever people are using who modify PC's for their cars as well.

Thanks for the info! You are most helpful.

I am a total display noob, so sorry if these next questions are completely moronic.

So, regarding LVDS: On the roboard graphics card, the LVDS slot is just a ...slot. How do I go about shopping for an LCD that will work with that? Is that slot just called "LVDS"? Is there some sort of connector I would need to get to interface with that?

I'm not sure about the connector. Maybe you could get lucky and an LVDS display will plug right in. But I'd bet you'll have to buy a plug and wire it up.

LVDS display need a special BIOS bundle with (depends on size and resolution), what size everyone interesting, maybe can annouce another kit with 5.7 inches or 8.4 inches panel for mobile robot, but the price will higher than use regular VGA monitor
