COM1 communication with Roboard

Hey everyone
I am using the Roboard 110, and have successfully installed SliTaz / Ubuntu 9.04 on the board after quite some time messing with both.

I am ultimately trying to use the miniPCI Wifi card to access either of those installations via remote desktop. I have attained communication between my Desktop and the roboard using the Com1 serial port. However, even though I can see and modify BIOS from my desktop, but after the board reports that booting is in progress, I can no longer do anything with the com port. I am left with a blinking cursor, and it will not respond to any keyboard activity, from desktop or the board itself.

Am I missing something with setting up each distribution for serial control and communication?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

because you can see & set BIOS via COM1, we assume that you are using the Console Redirection function of RoBoard. The Console Redirection function supports only the text mode (80x25) and thus, if your linux boots into X-win (graphics mode), you will not see any thing.

To use Console Redirection, your linux should always run under the text mode. :)
