Hi there, i tried installing Debian 5.0.8 following the instructions from RoBoard website, but after 7 hours of installing the parts in the VM it failed to install GRUB bootloader, tried to install the LILO bootloader and still no luck. error message:

running "/sbin/lilo" failed with error code 1.

can it work if i dont install a bootloader??

Trying to get an OS working on this board has become a massive hassle and I was wondering if anyone can help by maybe sharing a pre-built OS that they have running, debian, Ubuntu or XP would be wonderful! I live in London so could it also be possible to visit robosavvy office for help? or meet at the london hackerspace?

Thank you
Chris Paton

Hi aether

We spoke today on the phone about Ricardo's tutorial. I have sent you a private message here on the forum with further information as the information I gave you on the phone was not 100% accurate.

I believe I was able to explain everything propperly on the PM I sent you.

Please let us know how it goes.

Also bear in mind that the installation procedure of ANY OS on the Roboard is a lengthy process and you need to patient.
For example for Windows XP it is normal for the board to take 6-8 hours (most of which the board looks like it locked up; just keep it running and it should go all the way).

Another piece of advice is that you try to use a different SD card. I believe you mentioned you tried on 2 Roboards but always using the same SD card.

Regards
Pedro.
