Hi all
The Chopstix project mentioned in another thread has now evolved into an 8 legged monster (~60cm; 5kg) that is now available from RoboSavvy.
Bellow are some videos of the Spider during it's development.
Quoting Limor's post:
Russ from Dagu, the inventor of the Chopstix robot has productised the "octapod" and we will soon have it up for sale at RoboSavvy store.
The kit version has a whole lot of goodness for big sized (~60cm, ~5kg) robot with a relatively small pricetag (probably around ~400GBP). Here is a preliminary list of components and features:
- Dagu Spider controller (Arduino) + Dagu HD servo sheild
- Dagu Wild thumper switch (and relay)
- Dagu Pan tilt kits 2pcs (includes 4 small servos) + 2 Dagu Compound eyes (infrared distance sensors)
- 24 x 17kgs-cm @ 7.2 servos (with brass gears and dual bearings)
- additional servo mounted between the front legs. This is to allow a small optional range finding sensor
- 300 nuts and bolts
- foot collision sensors (to deal with uneven terrain)
- leg clutch mechanism to impact prevent wear and damage
- 5000mAH LiPo battery + charger
- Optional embedded linux + wifi + webcam + RoboRealm software
Here he is carrying a 1kg payload !
Here he is carrying a 1kg payload and a chair!
This is now available from our store
