The KHR-2HV is the older bot, the KHR-1HV is the newer one and has more DOF (hip rotation). The 1HV has only been around since christmas and has quite quickly sold out.
I believe there is to be an upgraded RCB on any new ones due out.
Programming is an issue as there is no definitive document of the protocol and that which has been worked out is somewhat scratchy and inaccurate.
Certain documented functions dont work and as the RCB doesnt have a true UART it makes comms timing difficult.
I think I am right in saying that none of the 'commercial' robots represented here have a true API, only what has been developed by the users. In some cases with considerable effort.
If you are into external programming then there is a wealth of information both here and at LynxMotion.
I personally have gone that route and dropped the RCB altogether.
There is an adjacent thread where I have shown some of the things I've done with my 1HV.
Don't get me wrong though, all these commercial bots have been made to do some quite spectacular things with the onboard processor with no external interface whatsoever.
