SerialUSBAdaptor failure

I just have my KHR-2HV assembled. I could once link up the robot to my PC for trimming the servo. But, I might mistakeningly use the Ftclean (because I did not understand the original Japanese manual) , then I could not communicate with the robot.
1/ I reinstalled the driver
2. Under Heart to Heart software, it showed "com 4 completion".
3. Click ICS, nothing display
4. Tried POS1 with servo selected, the servo motor was still in free state.
5. RCB on with green led lit. No flashing when I moved the slide bar of the servo

Could someone tell me what is wrong, the adaptor or the RCB? Could someone suggest ways to identify the fault, or even other alternative to make it work.

Do you have another PC/laptop to try it out on?

I tried in out on one note book and one desktop PC. Both show the same result.

Could I replace that adaptor with those USB to serial adaptor which can be purchased in the computer shop? They usually need no extra driver installation for Window XP.

Im not certain but I dont think ICS works properly on the 2HV which has the RCB3J and uses H2H3J

The adaptor for KHR robots can't be replaced, it has some weird wiring in place because the RCB doesnt have a proper UART on board.

Exactly. The KHR-2HV uses KRS-788HV servos that don't have ICS functionality, and the RCB3J controller doesn't have that firmware enabled. That being said, I'm not sure why johnsik is clicking ICS, as he mentioned in the original post.

does the LED flash on the board. IF it doesn't it means your not sending any signal. if it does then your sending the wrong signal.

Dear all, thanks for your replies. I am totally new to this robot , thus not knowing that ICS is not supported.
When I turned on the power of the RCB, it lited up and then flash once, then continuous lit on.
When I turned on the servo under POS1 and moved the slide bar, the green LED kept lit on, no flashing. Do you mean that the USB adaptor is faulty, or improper installation of the window driver?

I would say it's to do with windows

have you had it working yet!

it's a silly question but have you made sure H2H is using the same com port as the adapter!

if you unplug the usb dongle and plug it back in does any of the lights change.

I also find that just trying to press the play button some times courses the LED to flash but nothing happens, but that's because i'm running it off a mac.

to make sure it works the best way of testing H2H is pressing the yellow bird button if it doesn't load you know it's not talking with the bot.

I would start with the Windows Control Panel to confirm that the driver has loaded correctly and determine which comm port it is using. Then, boot H2H3 and select that comm port, and make sure the SYNC box is checked.

The blue status bar directly under the icons shows the comms status and will tell you if the comm port doesn't exist. Put a POS object on the screen, double click, and set the channel you want to test to SERVO.

Just curious, are you using the English or the Japanese H2H3J manual now?

Thanks. I checked the control panel, it is COM4, and I am sured that it is the same as that on Heart to heart, Sync box was checked. I tried both English (downloaded) and Japanese version (come with the kit) of Heart to Heart.
The link had been working once when I tried to tune the initial positions of the servo. Then after I tried that silly FTclean (need setting 165C on 'others'), then it did not work.
Tried to push that button on RCB, there was no flashing, and went off if the push last more than a sec. And it lit again if the button was released.

When I unplugged the USB adaptor, the green led flash once. No change when plugging it back.

From device manager, the device instance id is "FTDIBUS/VID_165+PID_0002+KOP7LODFA/0000". Is it correct?

As the LED flashed when you unplugged the usb key it could be that you haven't turned the ICS back . can you get this screen up.

As you have gone tit to work once I would rule the dongle out as the problem. Try going to through the instructions for the ICS when I did it to my bot it was hassale and took a couple of tries to work.

Thanks for all your comments. But it is still not working. Are there other ways to programme my robot. Are there any technical support in Hong Kong? I am a bit curious would it be related to PID0001 or PID0002?
