Hi,

Recently purchased a KHR-2HV.

Came across the following...

http://www.pcmus.com/Dive-Photos/DIY-Smart-Charger.htm

I've emailed the guy for more info, but thought others might wish to know about it.

Another battery charger kit...

http://www.angelfire.com/electronic/hayles/charge1.html

And I just found this interesting site on how to make your own battery packs...

http://www.powerstream.com/BPD.htm

and this one

http://www.rc-soar.com/articles/batterypack/index.htm

It also contains information about how batteries work and the terms used to describe batteries. For me, since power is going to be a main concern I think it will be useful info.

Regards
Michael

Increasing Power Capacity

Hi,

Still related to power, a couple of thoughts...

I understand the Kondo battery packs use AAA cells. The largest AAA cells I've found are...

http://www.mittoni.com.au/rechargeable- ... -1403.html

Which in theory should create a pack for 1200mAh(?)

However the larger capacities 2000+ are AA, but due to their larger size, may not fit in the chest cavity.

So I'm wondering what's the lowest voltage the KHR-2HV can run with?

My other line of questioning is about switching to LiPo batteries and what that may entail.

Besides the design with the modified feet, who else has altered their KHR-2HV with LiPo?

- what capacity
- pics of their placement
- what circults were required to protect your robot?

Regards

Did you see my post about the battery upgrade?

My bot has loads more run time now!

I can also hook you up with a decent charger as well :)

You can make your own pack, but soldering such small batteries is very difficult because it is so easy to cook them with the heat

We weld all our packs and only solder the leads coming off the pack. Sometimes we weld a tab off them and then solder the lead to that tab.

AAA's are max at about 1000mah at the moment, but some manufactures like to inflate the actual capacity numbers in order to sell
