I'm building them right now.
Not to difficult but a lot of work.
Just finished my 7th finger.
Should be ready within 2 weeks.

I'm thinking about just using 3 fingers and a thumb.
I like my robot to represent a robot not a replica of a human.

I don't have access to anything but a dremel :(

Would you share your plans with me?

Hey , you cant buy them yet. I have been told they are scheduled to be released at some point but who knows when!

I also have been building my own, and have a prototype finished. Now working on the final thing, which should be done in the next few weeks.
I am incorportaing a few other aspects into making the hands aswell such as two extra dof and by clumping servos together, when done the pics will hopefully show what i mean!

I have some news, my prototype showed up last week and has been redesigned this week. So i should have the new versions being made next week. Then i can reveal the hand units/fingers and servo brakcets that will hopefully be able to give my khr 2hv 22 dof. Basically i have developed some brakcets for the arms as well as the hands.
But more info when i get the parts made. Will take some pics for all to see!
It is very time consuming when you need to redesign parts, but all will be revealed.

Here are some prototypes i made
I have 7 fingers ready.
Made out of solid 6x6mm aluminium bar using a mill.
No bending of the material nessesary.

There is no U-shaped aluminium available in these sizes that i could find but....
There is brass 4x6x0.5 and 6x6x1 U-shaped bar available.
You can easily handmade these parts with brass using a drill, file and a 2mm thread tap (sorry don't know the English term)

For reference look at the last picture.
2mm holes with M2 threads tapped on one side.
2 pairs of different segments used.

Starting at left from the last picture:
Holes 10mm apart segment 1 and 3
Holes 8mm apart segment 2 and 4
segment 1 and 3 are 14x6x4mm with 2.5mm milled out slot
segment 2 and 4 are 12x6x6mm with 4mm milled out slot.

In the video, every time you pull the cable, the fingers flex in one direction. What prevents the fingers from flexing the other way? I can't see anything in the metal pieces that would stop this. It would look strange if 3 fingers flexed one way, and 2 flexed the other way.

What stops is is the design of the part, and the threading of the cable. When tension is applied, the finger can only bend in one direction as the tension is applied on the inside of the metal part.

Obviously you'd need to make sure that all fingers were attached to the hand in the same orientation, or you'd end up with fingers bending in different directions.

As can be seen from the videos, attach the free ends to a servo, and by applying tension, the hand will close, then release to open the hand. If you added some rubber pads to the inside of the fingers, you could increase the grip potential of the hand, by increasing the friction with the object you want to hold.

Great design, and really very simple.

Hey long time no speak from me, but i have recieved all the parts for my khr 2hv's right hand.
The parts will be assembled this weekend hopefully so pictures to follow!

The parts consist of a bracket to hold two servos together for elbow rotation and elbow bend. Then a hand bracket, to hold the servo to open close the hand, and the fingers and thumb.
So if they work or not pics will be posted.

Meltdowns alu fingers are very cool and work well.

Unfortunately i dont have means to make them so mine are all plastic.
Judge for yourself hopefully mondayish :)
