KHR 3HV now available from Robosavvy

At the moment the information I have from them is this "are translating documents for KHR-3HV to English" (quoting the supplier).

I believe we'll be able to talk to them about having the H2H manual translated and see what they say although at this time they are really busy with the new release.

So far we haven't received the final translation yet.

We have a few users using KHR 3HVs already though: nwhat they did was follow the pictures of the assembly procedure to get the robot up and running.

There are a couple of questions when connecting the KRI 3 and RAS / KRG sensors which we are glad to help you trough. Also, the english manuals for these accessories are very helpful.

After that most of the the work in calibrating and setting up the software is similar to previous KHRs and people have based their work on the English manuals for the 1HV and 2HV and the concepts for the software are the same.

As I mentioned the English docs will become available. We just don't have a date yet.
Until then, if you want to get your hands on one of these, with a little extra effort, you are able to get it working (we have customers who have done it).

If not, you can also choose the KHR 1HV which is also a great robot, includes 19DOF standard, full english docs, and we're running a special price on it.

As I mentioned in my previous post we were informed by the international distributor there WILL be an English version of the docs and I believe software as well.

However we do not know when they will be available.

I believe this was the procedure with KHR 1HV and 2HV: they were first released in Japanese and the English resources were released at a later date.

As I mentioned we have a few customers who already got a KHR3HV and have successfully built it and programmed it using the Japanese instructions and the English translations available for 1HV and 2HV.

Will the KHR-3 controller hand the supplied servos and AX-12 servos as well?
If not then will Roboard be able to handle both servo types?

I find it hard that the KHR 3HV controller board supports AX-12 servos.
The protocol is most likelly differet (the serial protocol for KHR 3HV servos is UNKNOWN as this time) and in addition, the AX 12 servos use a one wire TTL interface.
I don't know how it is for KHR 3HV but I would believe it is two wires, full duplex.

With regads to the Roboard it already supports multiple servo types.

It has 4 UARTs, 1 RS232, 1 Full Duplex at TTL level and 1 Half Duplex at TTL level.
In addition it can control PWM servos while controlling the above.

You can use the Half Duplex UART to control the AX 12 and the Full Duplex UART to control the servos on KHR 3HV.

However please note two things: no sample code is available for KHR 3HV servos nor do we know anything about the serial protocol it uses.
In both cases (AX-12 and KHR 3HV servos) you will need to manually lower the speed of the servo communication to 115Kbps which is the maximum supported by the roboard. (Native AX 12 speed is 1Mbps and native KHR 3HV servo speed is 1.25Mbps).

The alternative is using USB2Dynamixel and USB to ICS adapters on the roboard if you want to use the servos at their native, full speed with the ROboard

We have some 6 axis IMUs here http://robosavvy.com/store/advanced_sea ... =imu+6+dof and they should work with Roboard on the Full Duplex TTL COM.
However there are some considerations about voltage as they are 3.3V TTL and need 3.3V on Vdd.
I think Roboard has the TTL COM at 5V so you may need to use a Logic Level converter.

The 5 Dof IMU we have form SF will also work and this one has all Analog Outputs so you would need to connect them to the A/D ports on the Roboard.
Just make sure you have a pin on the roboard where you can get 3.3V (I think there should be one on the SPI connector but I'm not sure).

Have you implemented them along with Microsoft Robotics environment?

I do not know about using the Roboard with MS Robotics Studio.

I know there are libraries for Labview in addition to the base RoboardIO Library (DLL).

I know you can use the board (and the sensors) with VS .Net though.

You may want to post on the Roboard forum asking about this specific interest in MS Robotics Studio. The forum is monitored by Roboard engineers so they may be able to give you additional information.

Kondo has finally released the English Documentation for KHR 3HV.

The documentation currently available includes the KHR 3HV Users Manual and the Heart to Heart 4 Users Manual.

We are not authorized to distribute the manuals publicly at this point but we are suppling them - privately - to all future customers who purchase a KHR 3HV as well as previous customers who have purchased a KHR 3HV from us (Robosavvy).
