New builder with Kondo KHR-3HV Questions

Hello! I plan to build a Kondo KHR-3HV, but before I start I was hoping to get some help and advice. Below are my planned purchases. Please let me know if there and any modification or additions I should make. Thank you very much for your time!

-Kondo KHR-3HV

-Kondo RAS-2 Acceleration Sensor
Question - The site says that you need to purchase 2 Units of Connection Cable for RAS-2 100mm to connect the RAS-2 to your robot, but it also says For KHR-3HV, the RAS-2 acceleration sensor can be attached directly to the main robot controller board (RCB4-HV). Do I need the cables or no?

-Kondo KRG-4 - Giro sensor (2)

-KRI-3 Interface Board
Question - I've seen people use a PlayStation controller to control their robot. Is that possible for the KHR-3HV or is the KRC-3AD Remote control the way to go?

Hi...

You wanna build a KHR-3HV - good choice. :D

This robot have 17 dof - if you wanna 22 you need to purchase a set with 5 pcs. of Kondo KRS-2552HV ICS Red Version Servo (ellbow-, hip- and waist-rotation). I think you know that.

To install the RAS-2 you need two connection cable (100 mm) and it can be attached directly to the RCB-4HV (port AD3 -> Y-axis and AD4 -> X-axis).

I wanna install two giro sensors too (connection cable included).

If you wanna remote control you need the KRI-3 board to connect the KRC-3AD.
It' s possible to control with a Playstation controller but you need the TEC-3 or REV-1 adapter. The TEC-3 is compatible only with RCB-3. I don' t know if the updated version REV-1 is compatible with the RCB-4HV - I don' t think.

For more information visit: http://ixs.co.jp/en/products/robot/hotproceed.htm

I choose the KRC-3AD in the foreseeable future.

Hi

Not wanting to repeat Jurgen, I wanted to complement some of what he mentioned:

- The TEC-3/REV-1 adapters for PS controllers are NOT compatible with the new RCB-4HV/KHR 3HV at this time.
The only remote currently available for the 3HV is the KRC-3AD which needs to be used together with the KRI-3 as Jurgen mentioned. (you connect it like this: KRC-3AD -> KRI-3 -> RCB-4HV).

Regards
Pedro.

Thanks a lot Pedro for the complement.

If the info from Hotproceed is confirmed than it's a very nice addition.

However I must reinforce that the information we (Robosavvy) received from IXS Japan (which is the company who handles international sales for Kondo items) is that the REV-1 is not compatible with KHR 3HV.

That is great news Hotproceed :)

I will check with IXS then to see if we can get these.

Have you got any english documentation explaining:
1) how to assemble it: in your pictures only one wire connects to KRI-3. Isn't it supposed to have 2 wires connecting to KRI-3??? One wire IN and one wire OUT?
2) how to program the robot to react to the buttons

Finally, this module does not work over Bluetooth right?
It uses regular PS/2 remotes that work over 2.4Ghz (not Bluetooth) right?

The connector join KRI-3 and RCB4 together sell in “CRAFT HOUSE”.
This cable is not included in the kit of KHR-3HV. When you use it, please use it by self responsibility.
The method of the setting of the control button by a wireless of KHR-3HV with REV-1 is the same as a setting method of KRC-3 in the KONDO manual. Please watch that manual.
REV-1 can use the PS2 controller made by Rogicol and the VS-C1 made by Viston. REV-1 cannot use the bluetooth.

The things which has been mentioned here, provides a very good solution to your query. ok. in addition to that, I can Yes, Kondo KHR-3HV, is our choice for robot of the year, and we see we're celebrating by going out and getting our self some new gear. They like our taste. Inside that fancy new backpack is a 32-bit Samsung ARM CPU running at 200MHz, powerful enough to handle Linux and things like onboard image processing and object recognition. It also supports WiFi, meaning Kondo can beam what he sees wirelessly and become a roving security guard.
