Can we use Futaba or Hitec servos or any other brands on the extra slots on the RCB-1 board? Has anybody tried to do this? Success? Failure? It would be nice to augment KHR-1 with parts I can buy locally. Thanks!!

Yes you can use any rc servos but the teaching function won't work.
This is an unique feature of the Kondo servos.

My KHR-1 webcam head (finished) and grippers (in development) are using tiny pico servos with no problem.

You can use both. :)
There's also a mention about this in the software manual somewhere.
