small series of new parts?

Someone or a little group o people might be interested in designing and asking for building little series of new parts.

Could it be economically viable? How much per piece/quantity (an estimation)?

If you want to hire some one for a commercial style project then have a look at the shapeways.com forums - they have people wanting and offering 3D modeling services. I expect they want your cash though. Theres also some interesting looking robot bits in the galleries.

There's nothing like learning how to do it yourself. If you download Google sketchup and work your way through the tutorials you'll be creating your own brackets, gears etc in no time ...
