Hi all

We now have the new Aluminum Build Surface for the Thing o Matic in stock and took a few a pictures of the one we got for our own machine.

This new accessory is designed to be used with your ToM assembled with a Heated Build Platform (not the Automated Build Platform).

It is designed to offer improved Heating and Thermal performance and the countersunk mounting holes offer a fully flush build surface, letting you build even larger objects and take advantage of all the area of the build surface.

(All Thing o Matics ship with all necessary parts to assemble the build platform as either Heated Build Platform (which does not include the Auto Eject feature and lets you build taller objects) or the Automated Build Platform (which automatically ejects objects when finished, and by far the most popular choice for assembly).)

The kit comes with the Aluminium plate, the set of screws for Assembly and a Thermal compound.

The thermal compound - like the Aluminium Build Surface - are designed to offer superior Thermal Performance on the Heated Build Platform by ensuring heat spreads better and is retained better as well.

If, like us, you're not a huge fan of the Automated Build Platform due to the deformation in the belts and the need to exchange them, the Aluminum Build Surface (assembled with HBP) is the solution for you.

Objects build better with a build surface that is always completely flat (no more deformed ABP belts), fully flush build surface with countersunk mounting holes, easier to maintain (you just need to place some tape over it) and has excellent thermal properties.
The only difference is that objects don't eject automatically (you remove them manually once they finish printing)

Instructions on assembling your ToM with the Heated Build Platform (ie no ejection belt) can be found here http://wiki.makerbot.com/thingomatic-do ... m-assembly
Once you assemble your ToM witht he HBP you can then attach the Aluminum Build Surface to it and start printing.

The Aluminium Build Surface is available and ready to ship from our store here http://www.robosavvy.com/store/product_ ... ts_id/1732 and retails for £10.50 inc VAT

It's an inexpensive upgrade but one that we've loved. We'll try to post a video of our ToM building with the AluBP installed.

Regards
Pedro
