Hi,
The difference between ABS and PLA besides the melting temperature is it's origin, PLA is a derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch, tapioca products or sugarcanes, ABS is made from petroleum.
Usually PLA is a little bit transparent and ABS is opaque.
The water soluble PVA will be a excelent product when the dual extrusion is standard in all machines (it's currently still experimental) so you can print your support material with PVA and then just put the piece in water and get the finished product.
