Yes I agree there will be people who find one more advantageous than the other.
I wasn't aware that PLA was that durable (everything I've read elsewhere wasn't too enthusiastic) I'll look forward to your info when you do it.
The resin for the form1 is selling for $149 per litre. I dont know
how far that will go though. There also seems to be something specific
to formlabs (hence my downloading their msd - hence my comment about disposal) It also occurs to me there may be import issues.
(I understand the VAT and duty etc aspect but I have no experience of chemical importing)
I was just looking at the form1 - it occurs to me they would be a lot prettier with the lower half sprayed black - or maybe navy blue.
Not that they're that ugly anyway though.

It's actually quite a good question the one you pose about importation.
I know that PLA and ABS have their specific TARIFF codes and can be imported without any issue (as long as you pay the duty).
For other chemicals I would nto know.
Regarding PLA vs ABS; I've written a post here http://robosavvy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38325#38325 about it.
It's a bit long (and I need to proof read it a bit more tomorrow as I'm short in time today) but all the main ideas and usage cases are there.
PLA is not a one size fits all but it fits probably 95% of the cases.

I will post more information when I am allowed too on the Sedgwick.
I can not wait until the New York Maker, as that is the best place to go for new 3d printer information.

I thought Form1 was shipping there printers overseas but that is a good question to ask them in New York!
I will have brackets printed out so I can test its strength too.

Yes their web site does say they are shipping internationally but it's a bit
short on detail - I would not be suprised if they were planning on doing so
but don't have system fully in place yet. (no mention of UPS or air/sea freight, terms such as FOB etc.)
I'd love to be able to visit New York to one of the maker fairs - it's just all that airport hassle that puts me off. Topically speaking - I'd much rather they just hacked all my email and decided I was a safe bet to just let walk on through than set up all that searching and messing about every trip.
Perhaps I should suggest that to someone now I think of it...
On the strength question the specific question I would ask would be along the lines of:
"If I printed out a case for my mouse - and put the electronics in it - would there be any issues of any sort at any time during it's life - if so what?"
That sort of question can tell you a lot.
Do keep the Sedgwick info flowing.
Looking at the 3D priniting industry as a whole some interesting trends are starting to emerge that have potentially very big impacts elsewhere.
