Besttechnology Co. Ltd. has a new robot kit for sale that uses 16 Dynamixel servos but isn't programmed using the Robotis software. Instead, it has a custom controller board and can be programmed using C. The kit is more expensive (and lacks the yaw axis of the Bioloid comprehensive kit) but might be interesting for programmers chomping at the bit to code everything from scratch.
