Dr. GIY and Sugiura-san (Dynamizer) were the two technical advisors for the MANOI project. Takahashi's design, as beautiful as it was, wasn't manufacturable in any volume. They played a key role in the redesign and bringing MANOI to market.

That makes a lot of sense, too bad I didn't research more. But how did you acquire this information? Furthermore has anyone in the forum used this technique with their robots? I am interested in molding fiberglass and carbon fiber over a wood negative for custom parts but have never attempted it. What are the pros and cons of using this over aluminum?

Some of the builders do it with mixed results. It's fine as long as you're fairly gentle with the robot, but if you engage in ROBO-ONE type bouts the fiberglass tends to crack/split and get roughed up quickly.[/url]
