I've used Dimlow's .bat fix but I still can't seem to get Robobasic to work in Vista. I've got the same issues as the OP. I can set zero points and get the controller information, but I can't open a .bas file or create a new one?

Is there anything else I can try or am I screwed as far as Vista goes?

Okay I just tried this again. I had to right click, and start Robobasic with the "Run as Administrator" option. Program worked just fine.

So there ya go. I dunno if this is the case with everyone but if you find that Robobasic still doesn't work, Run it as Admin.

BTW, I'm using a USB to Serial converter.

Do you have the UAC on in Vista? That would be why you need to Run As Administrator. Glad to hear you got yours working. Now why in the hell doesnt my Roboscript work in Vista!!?

NVR2FST is right, you should have user access control turned off or actually be logged on as administrator for this pain in the ar... program to work properly. I may have neglected to mention that in the fix post. As this first thing i told Grampy to do when i heard he had got vista was to turn this dam annoying retarded operating system into a nice girl and turn UAC off. Doh!

You will find user access control by opening control panel, Selecting accounts and family Safety, then Select User Accounts, Then Select Turn user account control on or off, remove the tick from the tick box and reboot your system. this gets rid of vista's personality disorder and actually allows you run the machine like a real computer instead of it asking you every time if its OK for it to do what you asked it to do in the first place. so bloody annoying that is!

And did you know Grampy that if you use Google spell checker it alway want to change Grampy into Grumpy?

Anyway..... Happy roboting. one day i will build a real robot, not one of these toys you all play games with!

Finally, I am able to run RoboBasic without a hitch on my Vista OS, thanks to all of you experts. Changed the UAC as suggested, then rerun, this time without error, the Vista Fix. Shazam!

I can't believe that I knew nothing about the UAC; back to the books!

Thanks everyone,

Robert

I don't know what im doing wrong. Ive installed the batch file, Ive set my computer as administrator and Robobasic still will not work. As soon as I click the program, I get the bar that says ''robobasic v2.5 has stopped working'' bla bla, shuts down and tries to find the cause. Have I missed a step?

Just a quick note to say thanks for the hints and for those want to use v2.72 on vista; simply add the following 2 lines to your bat files or just run in from command line.

regsvr32 /u c:\windows\system32\MSINET.ocx
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\MSINET.ocx
