Servos get hot

Hi,

I think I have a problem with some of the servos on my Robonova-1. The servos on both knees get hot whatever I do. Sometimes I just let the robot stand up and leave it in that position for some time and after some minutes both knee servos are really hot. Other servos don't get hot. I've already replaced one of the servos but the new one also gets hot.
Does anyone know what the problem could be?

Thanks,
Christiane

Hopefully this isn't related to your other post about using the charger while the robot is on.

Otherwise... I'd check to see:
1) are the right servos installed in the right orientation? I remember an addendum to the manual that Hitec put out because either the picture or the instructions showed some of the servo installations backwards.

2) the servo horn is correctly setup, otherwise it's possible to be hitting the internal hard stop to keep the servo from going >90 deg to either side.

3) that there's nothing binding the leg in any way. No collisions w/ other limbs, wires, etc. That killed one of mine.

also check for the freedom of range of movement, double check with the CD manual for the proper indexing of the servos because the paper manual has flipped, mislabeled photos the first time my rn ran he held his arms up like he was escaping the mad scientist.this forum has a very good build wiki check that out too.servos get hard to come by. :(

How well did the "zero servo" positioning go? On my build, the hip servos were physically touching each other and applying force. I made sure to shut it down to prevent the servos from getting hot and smoking. Later, it was determined that the zero position was out of range and caused the binding. The same could happen with other servos. It's just a thought that may help troubleshooting.
