Well I got fed up with the shoulder mounted gyro.
Opened Takeshi's head and shoved the gyro in there. It fitted below the LED board and works like a dream.

BTW. while I had his head open for the pics I also put the IR sensor in the head aswell. I snipped a little slot out, bent the sensor, and mounted just the silver bit on the top of his head.
