Ah crap!

First time writing in here.

So I buy a USB to serial cabel adaptor for the back of my computer because my robot's cable wont hook up o it, and I had to download the program before I can use it.
So I was ready to set the zero point, when all of a sudden
it tells me (Error code, check controller status, power and interface cable.)
And I call hitec robotics for help, but they tell me to figure out what kind of number the radioshack cable is.
So first off...

What number are they talking about, were do I find it, and what am I suppost to do with it after I find it?

As you can see, this is a big problem, and I can't program it until I fix it.

Hi,

one quick question - have you set the controller type (should be MR-C3024 serial if memory serves) and com port under the SET menu in robobasic?

I Threw away my RadioShack USB>Serial cable... It functioned sporadically… never knew whether or not it would work. Sometimes it did, sometimes it didn't. If you start having those same problems, I’d recommend you find a different USB>Serial adapter.

I would mention again that the KeySpan adapter is extremely stable. I have one working with six different robots, various robotic controllers, and nine other microcontrollers, some various other development boards and platforms, plus the same KeySpan works on both Mac and PC computers! The company has remained very supportive and updated the drivers, even for past products.
