Sure you can trim the wire leads. Any ham radio operator will tell you that shorter is better. It avoids some of the RF, cross talk, bleed, and other interference. Actually, ICs can and do pick up RF, radiation, cosmic rays, power spikes, and EMI. Best of all would be shielded and grounded cables but we don't see that in hobby servos. With that bundle of wires directly across the Robonova controller board, makes you wonder how the motherboard can take it!
