Blinking LED and Communication Error

It seems that one of the legs of the serial wire connector in the Micom board is broken. It was bit loose, while pushing it against the board the download seems to work.The download status bar showed a red bar rather than a blue one. nothing happens to robonova. If the connector is spoiled can we get it in any electronics shop?

OK we can rule out the battery pack, that's good!

That leaves us with the serial port or cable. Since you've tried another serial cable already that leaves us with the port itself. Your best bet now is to try running RoboBasic on a different computer as a test. If you can get accesss to one, something at work or school or maybe a friend can help. RoboBasic is easy to install and runs on pretty much any Windows.

On the same line of Fitzoid has a friend of your's got a oscilloscope if there do you can put it on the serial line a see what communication your getting.

I always have one sitting on my desk saves a lot of head ache being able to see that is happening on the cables.

have a look at the able. I had a broken one where the ends where a bit cut and coursed a lot of trouble.

Where do you live you might be lucky and have someone near by with a RN.

I already tried with diferent computers in my school. The same thing happens. I will try the ossciloscope once i get back there. But i think most probably the fault is the port inside the Micom Board. As i said before it seems a pin of that port is broken. So is it possible to get the same type of component outside separately or is it can only be repaired by the manufacturers?

I had an issue with the casing of the serial housing on the MR-C3024 board, it needed to be pushed back together after a fall with the cable attached.
I have also needed to make a new serial cable as the supplied one went bad in a short time, due to twisting and untwisting. My own cable uses a much higher grade of cable (Belden 8102).

As i tried to desolder the 3.5mm serial jack in Micom board, one of its leg is fully broken. So i want to know is it possible to get the component outside?

Try to repair what you have mate. Desolder the whole thing and solder in a new pin. Remount and solder onto the board.

ok i tried soldering the 2.5mm jack socket.I was able to get consistent feedback. Download status bar worked well. But download status bar shows red colour in download while the verify part is in green. So now what's the problem.

ok this one is for the new robonova micom board. Everything is new. But when connecting it says communication error -5.The serial cable is working well as it connects well with the old micom board. If this new one works i can just use it, if not i have to desolder the serial port and fix it to the old board.So what could be the problem with the new one.

I've never had to initialize a new board, but my guess is that there is no RoboBasic onboard operating system on the new board. To get RoboBasic to download new firmware try the following procedure.

1. Turn off the Robonova.

2. Start the download process from Robobasic. Hit OK at the download prompt.

3. Now turn on the Robonova. This should initiate a firmware (re)load.

If the process works you should see a red bar in the status window and no bar in the verify window.

Once the firmware is loaded the normal program download can begin.

The new micom board doesn't seem to be working, but anyway i have transferred the serial port to the old board. Now its working. Thanks alot for the help.
