As a budding Humanoid Robot engineer I am amazed at the skill set required to follow this hobby. I am not talking about the skill set needed before you start, but the skill set you aquire by following your chosen path of robots.

Software and coding.
Design.
Power.
Control.
Assembly.
Electronics.
Mechanics.
Physics.
Dynamics.
AI.
Metalwork.
Plasticwork.
Human Dynamics.
Sociology.
Bi-directional wireless communication.
Serial communication.
Servos.

Thats it for off the top of my head!

Please feel free to add any that I have missed ;)

Great list! :D

That's what makes it so much fun and so addictive.

The only things I would add are:

Creativity
Patience
An understanding, or at least tolerant, family/spouse/friend
Ability to brush off other people's opinions when they think you are totally nuts
and $$$

An understanding, or at least tolerant, family/spouse/friend

This does not depend on us but on those around us. I consider it one of the most important things to have in any hobby/career, especially in this hobby which is one of the most time consuming on the planet - well thanks God the battery only lasts 1hr and then it needs further 1hr15 mins to recharge otherwise I would spend much more time with my robonova! - Anyway most of my programming (Java and Robonova) time is late in the evening and early in the morning (10:00pm-2:00am).
