Robot Photos

I thought it would be a good idea to put up a "showcase" of our robots, because even though all of them are Robonova they surely look different with the addons and hacks we do to them. To start it off, I am including two photos of my robot, hopefully you will join me by putting yours too . . .



This is the front view of the robot showing the wireless JMF compatible camera that I use for basic image recognition and an IR sensor.



. . . and the famous "backpack", well it is quite crowded - on the outside it has two IR sensors, one on the left and one on the right and another IR sensor at the back. Inside the backpack - a 9v battery for the wireless camera, a sparkfun bluetooth module and a tilt sensor.

Q: What did I use to make the backpack?
Ans: The bottom part of a shampoo container !!!!!

Please tell me more about your basic image recog.

I use JMF framework to be able to extract a frame from the wireless camera mounted on my RN and then find an object in the frame. For now it is simple recognition, i.e. there is high contrast (red on white for example) between the object and the environment to avoid ambiguity. Recently I posted a link to a video showing my robot looking for a red box.

Tell me how you used a shampoo bottle and how did you created a lid for it, as a backpack?

The container I've used is Keune Gel sculpting lotion. All you need to do is to cut the bottom part of the container no mods etc., it is made up of rigid plastic. You can follow this link to view the product:
