Not quite. Does it effect the way Robonova walks?

Have you got any photos of him wearing his new boots? and any videos of him walking?

Also, you have 'Patent Pending' marked clearly on the product. What is your patent application number from the USPTO?

8) Hi,

Sorry, no photos or videos because I'm still waiting for patent info on some other RoboNova-1 items I've designed and am testing and I don't want to show them off until they're ready for sales.

OTOH, the $20 light-weight BigFoot is the exact size of the RoboNova-1 foot print ... but they add 6mm of vertical space for a LiPo battery.

You can also get optional 2mm thick spacers for $5 a pair to raise the RoboNova-1 up another 2mm. This allows for slightly fatter LiPo packs.

This gives the RoboNova-1 a lower center of gravity ... that gives the RoboNova-1 more stability for walking, running etc...

The feet are made from a hard plastic so they don't bend & warp like cheap aluminum ... no bending and warping means they hold their shape during walking and running to give the RoboNova-1 even more stability.

I can make these types of feet for almost any robot with any foot print shape! But nothing bigger than 55cm x 40cm!

In this case, wouldn't it be libel? Furthermore, it is only libel if the statement is false or malicious... Both srobot and beermat are seeking the truth in this case - so I suppose I don't understand your conclusion.

IMHO, having lithiums in the feet is not very humanoid anyway. A human has a very small footprint to leg ratio, while many robo-one class robots have a much higher ratio. Furthermore, a human has very little weight in their foot, so therefore by adding lipo's in your robots feet is comparable to wearing lead bricks (which some how act as a form of nutrition  ).

I prefer to keep as much weight as possible in the chest - so as to have my robot be as humanlike as possible. I think that a robot can walk best with less weight in the feet/legs

But that's just my $.02

I've been through the lifecycle of a few patents. It is not really worth the $500 and 10 hours of paperwork to file a preliminary patent application for "Shoe sole for humanoid robot allowing insertion of LiPo battery" and definitely not worth the $5000 of legal fees involved in filing the proper patent within a year. There's enough prior art in the public domain and particularly on this forum that would make defending an "infringement" impossible. You may have to wait more than the lifespan of a patent before large enough volumes of humanoids are sold in the US to make it worth claiming infringement. Needless to say any company receiving from you a cease and diciest notice will quitely ignore it and you wont have the resources to go to court or arbitrage and no lawyer will take you on a revenue share basis..

maybe the other items you want to patent are more patentable. Good luck anyway!

8) Hi,

I'm trying to sell robot feet not have stupid arguments about patentability or patent costs etc...

Lets just focus on the issue that I have a cheaper and better alternative to everything else I've seen here and in other websites and forums for a LiPo Foot idea?

How much time and money I spend on patents is my problem ... there is no reason to discuss that here ... END OF DISCUSSION ... for the couple of users who seem to have a bug up their butts about anything they can find to complain about, why not grow up and have a postive attitude for once in your life?

My BigFoot - LipoFoot - PlastiFoot is the best solution for adding more power for longer running times on a RoboNova-1 and best of all they're $100's cheaper than buying materials and machinery and taking the time to figure out how to build your own.

At $20 a pair it's an easy add-on to the RoboNova-1 ... and you can take the old battery out of the RoboNova-1's butt and replace it with a voltage regulator making the c.g. quite a bit lower and that makes the doll much more stable and able to run like a wild banshee.

If you think that a RoboNova-1 is like a live person that is a nice fantasy, but the reality is; a functional robot is worth a hell of a lot more than a fantasy.

Limor, please disable his PM.

He is starting to send me bad stuff, like he has done to others in the past.

Now that he asked for it, you will get CaptKill4Fun's past:

Back in July - September (+/-) 2006, he tried to buy a RoboNova-1 for $600 from a RoboSavvy member, though the deal did not go through because he would not send the PayPal payment until the item was shipped, the other member (which I will not disclose) did not want to send it first, and refused to sell it to him, so the deal failed. CaptKill4Fun said he would sue if he could not get them item. Late one night (about 8 - 10 PM CST) the posts regarding this matter got removed from the site.

He did not do much until he came up with "Opec Grips" in December 2006, which he claimed that Matt Bauer "copied" (Matt came out with his 8 months before him). A big fight happened, with stuff like what is happening here. Matt, Hive, and others got tons of junk in there PMs sent by CaptKill4Fun.

May (+/-) 2007 - Then on his site (brainless), he put up that he was "family friendly", and had projects to do with kids.

Now here we are now.

I would hate to see one of you "buy" from him only not to get the item.

All the best,

That's a bit unfair. Give the guy some credit.

Yes, his social mannerisms are a bit skewed and his web sites and choice of names are outlandish but he surely realizes that there's not much to gain by selling fake $20 humanoid robot shoes hence he may be doing this for the community from the goodness of his heart.

In addition, lets not forget one thing. Last year he induced amazing creative comedy from some forum members that were epitomized by the funniest Captain Crunch humanoid videos ever seen on youtube. Worth every green font character that are the hallmark of his postings.

So... Lets first see some pics/videos of this LiPo shoe thingy (once he has filed all the relevant patents). They may have good potential.

I personally don't care about patents or who did what. It seems to be a good idea and the price is right. I may buy a pair and try them out. The proof is in the pudding. If these things work then I have to say its seems like a pretty good deal.

@ CaptKill4Fun,

I'm interested in your Robonova boots, have you had any feedback from buyers? Also, I'm going to the next Robogames in the UK and was thinking if you send me a free pair I'll get them up and running and debut them at the event.

ROBOtic'07 UK will be held on Sat. 24th November 2007

Yes, chances are he will send them out, but if he does not, well I'd hate to see it...

I hope to see them a must on every RN-1, like Matt's gripers!
