CANNOT MAKE IT WORK

Hi everybody,

We are a group of students doing a project with Robonova-I, and we have not been able to make it work. The problem is as follows:
- His head just keeps blinking all the time, even after charging it for hours.
- We get a -5 Communication Error everytime we want to do anything with the RoboBasic.
- We have sniffed the serial port and Robonova does answer, but always "00 3E". No way of downloading anything into the robot, always same answer.
- We are using a USB to serial port adaptor, but tried in several computers, with different cables and different adaptors, with the same result.
- Other group from our class is using the same robot with the same USB connector and cables and they can make it move without problems.
- We have exchanged batteries with the other group and same happens.

Any idea of what might be happening or we should make Hitec change it?

Thanks a lot for your quick replies!!!

The clue is here...
- Other group from our class is using the same robot with the same USB connector and cables and they can make it move without problems.

This proves the RN1 is fine and the cables are fine. At first guess I would ask you to check the settings in Robobasic/script that they are set for the right controller and connection speed.

Your controller is dead i had exactly the same problem, the 3E is the reset signal, and the led keep blinking because of reset. Contact Hitec, they should give you a replacement board. Remenber, never power on the robonova while it is charging, it may cause over-volltage, that is probably what you've done.

DirtyRoboto - Sorry, maybe I didn't explain myself well...I meant, the other group uses the same MODEL of robot (not the same one, this one does not work) with our cables and our usb and does work.
