Best video of the RN1 EVER!! Hitec should be notified...free RN1s for Matt for life...all he has to do is keep doing awesome stuff like this :) Nevermind if a few bots break in the process.

Matt - one more vid request. This is basically a move from one higher platform to a lower platform.

* Start - RN1 is on higher platform with a tight grip on rope
* Release grip slightly so that rope moves through the hands...
* Lift both feet off the ground
* time the slide from higher platform to the lower platform so that the gripper re-activates at the lower platform
* wait for the swinging motion to calm down
* lower RN's feet

Music to go with it - Guns n Roses "Welcome to the Jungle"

WOOT!!! :P

Well when I saw the gripper a couple of days ago, I did actually imagine that Bauer Independents would wish an RN-1 climbing walls... what?

=> a SpiderBot!!!

I dismissed that silly thought.

What you did is nothing short of it. It's Mission Impossible!!!

Wonderfull grippers!

I searched the net for some grippers, even before I got my Robonova. I wanted to able to go this way as soon as my RN-1 would arrive.
Ended up with perhaps buying some small ones from lynx.

Now I'm experimenting with my RN a lot and just added a servo for turning the head this weekend. Just sort of cosmetic upgrade, to be able to shake the head and look in the right directions when turning.

Please opt me in for a pair of your grippers.
They are the best design for my needs I have seen on the web yet. And the look like the "belong" to the RN-1 design.

Regards
Steffen

bauer: One question about the "kit" you're making. Are you making it with the two servos in it or are they separate?

I suspect Matt's grippers, and the Robonova, are going to be very, very popular-

I'll be offering the kit either with, or without the two Hitec HSR-849HB servos. It's your choice. I may even offer to pre-assemble them... 8O ouch, did I say that? We'll say a maybe on that one. I'm only a single-man operation. Oh.... yes, and my loving, most-beautiful wife. :D

8O Cool! Yeah, I noticed it's kind of taking off... much more than I ever anticipated!

I'd like to mention that this video was wonderfully re-edited by the modest tempusmaster Lem of http://www.robots-dreams.com. Not only does the site feature RN-1's, but a large variety of other bots as well. It can help aid in giving you a good idea of what we Robonova-ers are up against should we one day be able to participate in a Robo-One tournament! :D

...bring it on

The new grip article and video can be seen here:

It's great that RN is getting so much attention!

About the grippers: I don't know if I can afford it with the servos but I'm certainly interesting in getting the grippers.
I'll worry about buying the servos later myself

If I can whish for an anodizing colour.
I'd like to have them black like the original hands.

Hello,
I don't know if robosavvy looks to highly at their forum becoming an eBay. So I'll tell you what, how about we wait for them to get done. I'll let you all know, and then the specifics of each order can be delt with.

The anodized grip is probably going to be black. I'm looking into maybe having the wrist section matched to the "copper-orange" RN-1 color, but that may send the price up conciderably. I want them to be affordable. :D

Black is good.

I prefer functionality over appearance and the lower the cost - the better :)

Excellent work on the grippers! I would like to order a pair and have them shipped as soon as possible. I know you must be getting a bazillion requests so please just add me to the queue.

What's the cost btw?
