Robonova "TRAINER"

I have an idea for a trainer that will prevent your precious RN-1 from falling over because of your incompetence behind the incredibly well designed Robobasic interface <sarcasm>

The idea is quite simple - suspend RN1 using his shoulder blades to the trainer...

Any chemical equipment store or lab equipment store will have a basic "titration" stand that holds burettes. You can adapt one of those for this purpose. Alternatively you can build a purpose built training environment with the harness as shown.

The harness is key. A bungee type material will be best. Shouldnt interfere when the RN is doing his usual stuff - but should intervene and prevent a hard impact with the ground.

Too bad we are forced to use a hard, slippery and unforgiving surface with our RNs...

Some of the builders here use similar homebrew rigs. It's more common to see them holding the robot up with their left hand while they use the keyboard/mouse/computer with their right hand.

You might get some additional ideas from the Werkstatt Halle Niki site - http://w-h-niki.com/robo.htm

The text is in Japanese, but the photos should be enough for you to understand the way they designed their 'trainer'. It's pretty pricey ($120) for what it does, but at least you get the idea.

Their robot masks are pretty neat too-
