I just purchased a robonova and am looking at purchasing a gyro and accelerometer. I was wondering if they require any programming for them to work or do you simply plug them in and the controller board knows what they are and how to use them. This question is also intended for any accessory such as touch sensors and IR sensors. Thanks. I'm a newbie btw.

By connecting devices, intended for robonova not give you any problem, but you have requested that the robot programmed to use these sensors with external information it receives, and tell the robot you want to make depending on the value of information External obtained, which has scheduled bone touches. We talked. :D

You will find that some of the RN-1 owners have included code that works with the Gyro system in thier poste .bas routines. It will be up to you to tweak the gain of the Gyro(s) and the setpoints of your servos to work hand-in-glove.

We all love to bolt accessories onto our Robonovas, but most actually are poor value for money.

The major weakness to address is the IR remote control. This is very directional and has poor performance. Bluetooth (Hitec or Bluesmirf) is the usual replacement.

Gyros, accelerometers, sensor, all work, but they add maybe a few percent each to the performance, and increase the programming complexity. Your time and effort + a good communication link make 100% performance increase.
