Well let me start by saying I finally got a Robot!!!!

Ok now for the problems, I got my Robonova on Monday And I just finished putting it together. But I’m having some problems communicating with my pc.
I keep getting a communication error number 4 and the Led keeps blinking.
I’m using an usb to serial converter. I’ve checked the battery voltage and it’s ok.
I’ve reinstalled the usb drivers, I checked that I’m on the right port and I have the right controller. And another thing I can select reset controller from robobasic and the robot resets but when I try and get controller info I get the communication error number 4
I’ve tried searching the forum for a fix but it is hard to find an exact match for the problem. Any help would be great.

I had a similar problem, you command a link where I speak of the subject, you have to translate it, because it is written in Spanish.

My setup is like this.

Robobasic
Set
Port no COM1
Set Port Communication overtime 3000 msec
Contoller type MR-C 3024 Serial.

What we do not know is how you can get the output port.

I use the KeySpan P/N: USA-19Qi which has worked for several robots, numerous microcontrollers, and every serial project that I've run through the computer's USB port on both Mac and PC computers. It's what I use exclusively for Robonova and Parallax products. By now, there's probably a newer version to take its place. Try checking KeySpan's web site at: http://www.keyspan.com/

Yup - agree on the keyspan, they give very little problems & work well.
