Gyros making Robonova limp?

Hey, i have a HG-R01 gyro installed on my robonova and it seems like if he starts to oscillate to much or over correct the robo looses all power to his servos and he just falls over limp, but the LED in the eye and the Gyro LEDs are still lit.

I have the gain way down and the sense real low. Could the low sense be causing this?

Thanks,

When this happens, what is the voltage status of the batteries? Does this happen after the batteries are fully charged?

i use a 120v AC to 6v DC 1800ma rectifier so I'm always running at full juice.

What happens when you recalibrate throughout the range, and go to a minimum value? There are numerous threads that talk about the great sensitivity of calibrating a gyro. It usually creates a shaking or vibration effect during calibration. I don't recall any information about the servos going limp. Can you remove the one gyro and replace it with a second one to see if it has the same result?

I had a similar problem with my gyro. Try changing your gyro orientation as it may not apply correction in the right direction (correcting forward while, robot is falling forward). Maybe the servo comes loose when the input pulse is longer than 2.5ms as the pulse is calculated from the angle+gyro correction.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug in RoboBasic. Excessive corrections from the gyros either screwup the feedback logic or overlay storage resulting in failure of the motor driver. The work around is to tune down the gyro gain.

I just finished putting my gyro on my RN and I had the same problem.
I dropped the gain down to about 30% and it seems to have takin care of the problem.

When you say the servos go limp. Is that all servos, or just those set in the Gyroset command ?
