Is there any chance to work with GPS and RN-1 ?

I would like to draw a map of the room while my robonova is autonomously walking, and i think this is only possible with GPS attached to RN1.

Just wondering if a small RS232 GPS can be somehow connected to RN1 and be operated ?

it should be easy to connect a GPS receiver to the robonova but the NMEA data processing will take a long time with robobasic. Using GPS inside the room is not ver good as the signal become weak, and the precision of the GPS doesn't allow to do accurate positionning.

I process the data with PC, not robobasic so NMEA data processing wouldn't be an issue...

How do you think RS232 GPS could be connected to RN1?

Maybe there is some other way to implement positioning ?

Just a quick idea.

How about having the GPS attached to the RN then sending the data straght to the pc via bluetooth. Then processing it and doing what you want then just send back a movement command to the RN. I would guess that most of this has been done before you just need to put it all together. I would be interested in what GPS unit your seen. How small are they and power usage.

Hi, I don't think GPS is accurate enough down to a RN size, and non-existant indoors.

There are many different ways of positioning and mapping indoors, although they all need beacons in fixed positions to measure against.
