Hello, I am going to add the SRF04 sonar, could anyone let me know what I need and where they think the best place is to get the sonar from. Looks like a fairly simple plug and go unit?

There are a few threads on here with regard to sonar. Have a look at these ones and see if they answer your questions:

http://robosavvy.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=153

http://robosavvy.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=166&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

And have a hunt/search through the rest of the board as I am sure there are lots more on the Sonar sensor too

Good luck

In the United States I have bought some of the other Devantech Ultrasonic Range Finders at Acroname.

http://acroname.com/robotics/parts/c_Sensors.html

I believe that Parallax also sell these types of sensors as well.

Good Luck
