Robonova Remcon?

Hi guys, I'm sure you can help me with this because you all seem so knowledgeable on the RN1.

I have assembled my RN1 and after a few minor problems (Are Hitec aware that the manual has some wrong information it it?) it is all up and running.

The problem I am finding is that my RN1 is not very responsive to the remote control, it does respond, but only after multiple button presses or moving the remote within mm's of the sensor.

Is this behaviour normal?

Sometimes it seems to work fine, then it barely responds at all. I have changed the remote batteries several times, and used a camera to check the remote is emitting infra red signals.

It appears that the sensor is just not very sensitive, or has a poor receiving angle.

What are your thoughts on this?

Where did you install the IR receiver? I know that some types of lights and heat sources will interfere with the signal. Also have you commented out the voltage check in the code? It does not work. I hope that helps.

Thanks for your response Gort.

I have installed the IR sensor on the top of the head facing upwards, as it says to in the manual.

I don't think light or heat could be a problem because I have tried it in so many different places.

I haven't had much chance to play with the code yet because all of my computers are running Vista which doesn't support the software. I had to borrow my sisters laptop just to get the standard moves loaded in.

Is your blue LED flashing ?

They only time that I have had trouble with the IR remote was because of interference from lights or heaters. I can not think of any other time?

Yes, the blue LED is constantly flashing, but being new to this, I didn't even know it was a low battery warning!

I really need to read the manual. Typically, this is the last thing I do.

So, I am going to sort the LED and see if that helps with the remote.

As a back-up, I am going to order a replacement IR detector just in case it is damaged in some way. Does anybody here know the the spec or better still know a manufacturers part number?

Comment out the voltage check in the code and your RN should work just fine. The low voltage indicator has never worked!
