Rather than waiting for Hitec to release the Hip Joint, I decided to make my own. The hip joint works pretty well and I am working on the code now.

Thanks Voelker. It took me quite some time to build it. I think I can make an extra pair for you at US$199. It will take about 3-4 weeks.

Very interesting work! So there are actually TWO additional channels/servos in this design? It looks as though you've added a hip rotation to each leg independently? Would love to see a video! 8)

Yes, it is 2 additional servos on the hip and they can rotate independently. Will post some videos later.

Great work RNX, but have you found it difficult to get your nova to stand on one leg with the added weight? When trying to get my Robozak to walk I can hear the servos struggle to support the upper body. Eventually I had to settle for a shuffle walk. I would like to see what you managed to do with your Robo and exchange code.
