Am I seeing things?

I found some photos taken today at the 2006 Robogames.

I'm assuming that this photo below was taken in the Hitec Booth. Zoom-in and look very closely at the RN-1 in this image:

It appears to me that it has leg rotate servos. And by the four holes showing on each side, perhaps with these HSR5995TG brackets (Set 01-A)/ and servos:

Am I seeing things??? Opinions?

You are not seeing things...that is exactly what teh dude has on the black RN-1.

BTW - Black looks SLICK!!

If they make a kit for the leg rotation...that will make the RN-1 as complete as anyone can hope for in a budget robot.

You're not seeing things. That looks like it might be the 'Team Nova' bot out of San Diego-

I was there and can say it is a slick idea but he (Tony of Hitec) says it is very top heavy and unstable. He didn't run it in the competition.
I was a bit disappointed that there weren't more robo-one entries to glom ideas from. I'm fired up to enter something next year though.

Interesting modification of the legs. Unfortunatelly it looks like the original moves wouldn't work with that one

Hey Subpilot,

It's too bad you had to leave. Considering your job I can't blame you for not wanting to play hooky from work.

The Robot is named RN-1E. It is Tony's personal Robonova. He did use it in the wrestling competition. What he told you about it being unstable was true. It fell down a lot. He said he hadn’t had time to tweak the gyros. Once he has time to work the kinks out of it, RN-1E will be one real cool bot.
