Question on battery switch

Could I splice a separate on/off switch between the battery and the board? A project I am working on will require the robot control board to be contained inside a modified Robonova torso, and not very easily accessible. This will make it difficult to turn the robot on and off since the power button is on the board.

If I could wire in a separate battery switch, I could put it in a convenient location.

I am no electrician so I could use some advice.
Would one of these products work without frying the board?
