Hello,

We just assembled our Robonava a it works very fine :D

My son is also very happy (it was a birthday present ...)

After playing some hours his question was about automatic recovering standup after falling ... And yes, there we go

I saw in the wiki the gyro and tilt options and in the shop I saw also a sparkfun module with all-in (3 axis + 2gyro)IDG500/ADXL335
Can I combine all the functions on one module ?

The Sparkfun 5 axis module is not compatible with the Robonova software.

ok, if I good understand I need then two PG03 gyros and a two or three axis separately ?

The gyro code is deep within the firmware, so you must use the PG-03 Gyro. You can start with 1 for front/back and later add the second for sideways. Tricky to set up and use, so don't expect instant results !

The accelerometer is read fom Robobasic, so has more options, but the Hitec 2 axis is clearly compatible.

And between the accelerometer from Sparkfun and the Hitec Tilt sensor ? Are there both dual axis ? Is one better than the other ?

The Hitec Tilt sensor:
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/27/products_id/143
is a single axis capacitive liquid sensor. Rather expensive for single axis and I have heard of some problems with them over time, so not recommended.

The Hitec 2 Axis Accelerometer:
http://robosavvy.com/store/product_info.php/cPath/27/products_id/141
is the best option all ready to plug in and go.

The Sparkfun accelerometers are usually 3.3V so need a regulator and special cables. to connect to the 5V supply of the C3024. I have used these both in analog and I2C, but they need much more special work to implement. However I have found the 3 axis I2C devices the most accurate and best value.

Well, I will give a try to the Hitec 2 Axis Accelerometer

We are now playing with a standard servo to move the head :)

Regards,

Bernard

An important thing with head servo is to make sure the head movement does not strain the serial cable and connector as it turns. Connection can become intermittent and socket damaged (no known replacement source !)
