8) Hi,

Yes, it is easy to add R/C control to your RoboNova-1 ...

I found some doc's online including a template setup by the honorable Tony Ohm of HiTecRCD Support for R/C Control ...

I unplugged my gyro's and gave it a try;
RoboNova-1 & Spektrum Radio Video test run -00

Here is the .BAS template & Docs that explain how it works ...

Basically, plug in your R/C receiver to the A/D ports in this fashion to work with this template ... or modify the template to conform to your AD port selections ...

Ailerons -- AD0
Elevators - AD1
Throttle -- AD2
Rudder --- AD3

I'm using a Spektrum DX6 Radio because they are Spread Specktrum 2.4GHz and have no interference with any other radios and other radios cannot interfere with your Spektrum DX6 Radio ... Perfect for RoboGames, Soccer etc ... unlike 50MHz, 72MHz, 75Mhz and other R/C radios ...

This is probably the most important issue with R/C ... all R/C radios use crystals to control the frequency/channel they transmit on allowing anybody on your frequency to control your robot ...
except the Spektrum ... the Spektrum Radio binds with your receiver so nobody else can have a conflict and you do not conflict with others because you send commands only to your receiver ... and all other radio signals are simply ignored ... it works for Robots and other R/C applications ...

Another nice thing about the Spektrum is you get 6-channels so now all we have to do is figure other ways to use the other two channels ... I was thinking channel 5 might be used to switch between templates in the bot on the fly! Imagine, having a Soccer Template and a Fighting Template ... perfect for the angry soccer players ...

I'm thinking of using just the fore/aft gyro on the RoboNova-1 so I have ports open for the Spektrum receiver ... this should give me the best of both worlds until a better solution comes along ... Dan Alberts ZigBee kit is probably a better solution in the long run ...
